ST. LOUIS, MO – EPIC Systems, Inc. recently honored Michael Riehn as the 2015 “EPIC Way Award” recipient. The eighth winner of the annual EPIC Way Award, Riehn was selected for exemplifying the spirit and values that EPIC was founded upon. Each year, one employee is honored for their ability to “Make it Happen, Make it Better and Make a Difference.”
John Schott, President of EPIC, presented Riehn with the crystal engraved award at the annual company meeting on February 23rd, 2015. Riehn’s family surprised him by appearing with Schott during the presentation. As the recipient of the honor, Riehn received a free $5,000 trip from EPIC Systems. “I love having people at EPIC who are passionate about what they do, and what EPIC does,” Schott explained, “and I knew from day one that Michael was that way.”
“Michael develops trust all around him. He is a servant to EPIC, and always does the right thing, even when no one is watching. He started in a position with many doubters. Many people believed we did not need a concentrated marketing effort. Michael proved the value of his group to EPIC, and did it in a way that garnered buy-in and enthusiasm from those around him. He does a great job in this organization and exemplifies the phrase leaders eat last,” stated Schott.
“We have so many great people that work at EPIC that I never expected to be chosen for this award,” Riehn shared. “I couldn’t do this work without my wife, family, faith, and people I work with. I am a better manager because of my mentors, John Schott and James Owen. I am blessed to work with outstanding Marketing, IT and Business Development teams that make me look good,” continued Riehn.
”The seven people that won this award previously truly embody the make it happen, make it better, and make a difference spirit. I look at this award as a challenge. The ideals of this honor are something to strive for, and I’ll try to do that every day for the rest of my career,” Riehn added.
