ST. LOUIS, MO – Jen Seitz, EPIC Systems Inc.’s Director of Finance and Administration, was recently honored by the St. Louis Business Journal as a CFO of the Year winner. The CFO of the Year Awards recognize individuals who have helped their companies grow beyond normal industry projections. There were 11 honorees selected in 2015 from a variety of industries.
An engineering and fabrication firm specializing in pilot plant development, process skids and process automation, EPIC has experienced rapid growth over the last several years. While modular process systems make up the largest part of EPIC’s revenue, the firm also works in packaging system automation, custom machine development and machine vision systems. This diverse portfolio of work can present challenges when it comes to financial planning.
“Jen has developed some key financial systems at EPIC which help us make smarter business decisions. She led the development of our cost model, cash flow analysis, and project forecasting systems. These systems help protect EPIC against financial risk,” said John Schott, EPIC’s President.
“Some of the larger pilot plant fabrication projects we take on require millions of dollars of materials and equipment to be purchased in a short amount of time. If we aren’t carefully managing that, and syncing with our other projects, we could find ourselves in a much riskier position from a cash stand-point. That type of situation is what these models help us avoid,” he continued.
Seitz is honored to receive the award. “Everything is an effort to be a more solid company, a long lasting company. The project forecasting system is the thing my team really made leaps and bounds with this year. It’s a reliable system that meets the needs of several very different end users; project managers, group managers, the company President, and the finance group. That’s my goal, to create systems that help everyone in the company make better decisions.”
