EPIC Systems Visitor Safety Policy

The safety of our employees and our visitors is our most important job at EPIC Systems. We take your safety seriously, and prioritize our safety policy over: meeting schedules, productivity and making a profit.

During your visit, we respectfully ask that you comply with the following requirements:

Eye Protection

Safety GlassesSafety glasses must be worn at all times in our fabrication plant. They must meet the following ANSI Z87 criteria:

  • Shatterproof lenses
  • Side shields

We can supply non-prescription safety glasses or the large, bulky safety glasses that fit over your eyeglasses. Please note: These are irritating to wear for extended periods. You will be much happier wearing your own prescription safety glasses.

Foot Protection

Safety toe capsSafety shoes must be worn if you will be working in the plant or witnessing a Factory Acceptance Test. We have a limited number of safety toe caps, but they are even less fun to wear than the bulky safety glasses.

It is permissible to wear closed toe street shoes for plant tours and short visits to shuttle paperwork, etc. High heels are not recommended, even for short visits.

Hearing Protection

Normal plant activities do not typically require hearing protection. Your host will offer ear plugs for visits during high noise conditions or upon your request.

Continuous dB permissible exposure time

Head Protection

Hard hats are required whenever you are in a location where work is being done overhead.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

If your visit involves exposure to chemical hazards you may be required to wear any of the following

  • Chemical resistant suit
  • Face shield
  • Goggles
  • Rubber gloves
  • Respirator

Other Safety Policy Best Practices

We also consistently follow the following best practices in conducting our fabrication plant work:

  • Lock Out / Tag Out when working on energized systems
  • Hot Work Permit (when flammables or combustibles are present)
  • Fall Protection is required when working at heights of 6’ and above.

Your host will review these safety procedures as required.
