Duties, Knowledge and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, CADWorx Plant, Navisworks Simulate/Manage.
- Expert P&ID development and 3D modular and plant design (steel structures, equipment, piping)
- Expert in drafting and development of process flow diagrams (PFDs) and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Ability to create conceptual 3D models from scratch to serve as basis for initial project planning and cost estimating.
- Ability to estimate designer work effort to support sales team
- Ability to create well thought out, creative, constructible, accurate designs to eliminate errors during fabrication
- Expert in creating drawings (plans, sections, ISOs) and line, manual valve, and site tie-in lists
- Knowledge of pipe stress on piping systems
- Ability to talk and coordinate with structural engineer about loading and seismic requirements
- Knowledge of adequate pipe support details, locations, and spans
- Ability to coordinate with electrical engineer to model basic electrical components. (electrical transfer systems, panels, motors, control valves, etc.)
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- 7+ year’s experience
- Experience mentoring less experienced team members; managing other designers a plus
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment on fast-track projects
- Self-directed and forward thinking with a strong work ethic
- Strong interpersonal, listening, questioning and communication skills (written and oral)
- Ability to learn hands-on with attention to detail and an ability to multi-task and work cross-functionally
- Ability to represent EPIC in a professional, ethical and socially responsible manner
- Equally respectful of others, regardless of their position
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously with varying scope and effectively prioritize workload to ensure deliverables are met
